It's finally February and my big trip is just around the corner. Been counting down for almost a year now, and am now only two weeks away from the trip of a lifetime. Have read dozens of travel blogs from previous volunteers, watched about 20 episodes of a documentary about Harnas running on German TV and checked out tonnes of photos, videos, books etc. Needless to say, I feel well prepared and ready to jet off for my big adventure!
Harnas Wildlife Foundation is an animal orphanage that caters for abused, injured, orphaned or captured wild animals in Namibia. The farm is located about 300 km from the capital of Windhoek, close to Gobabis. The mission of Harnas is to care for animals that can not care for themselves, rehabilitate them and then eventually release them back into the wild. Animals include lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, baboons, Aseem the famous Falcon (from Beyond Borders with Angelina Jolie) donkeys, wild dogs and many more. Check out www.harnas.org for more information.
